Tony Bohnenkamp: Musician, Songwriter, Composer
Tony Bohnenkamp has been immersed in the world of music for nearly 50 years, starting with piano and drums at the age of 5, and continuing through elementary and high school with the normal band/jazz band/choir/swing choir curriculum.
During his time at Iowa State University, Tony was the lead singer of the band "Lunchbox." Since then, he's been involved in various musical projects, including playing drums for "The Nadas," who was inducted into the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
Tony's main focus is on playing solo and dueling piano shows, with nearly 30 years of experience as a professional musician. He brings together other talented musicians for unique cover bands - both for public and private events - including "The Pianopalooza Dueling Piano Orchestra," "Elton and Billy - the Tribute!" "BRAVO!" (an 11 piece, multi-cultural party band), and "C.H.A.W. (Country, Hillbilly And Western)" In addition to his own acts, Tony has fostered relationships. and collaborated, with some of the Midwest's most talented musicians, which is why he always says "If I'm not the right person for the job, I know who is."
In 2007, Tony co-founded The Sonic Factory recording studio with Jon Locker, where he engineered and produced music for various projects, from local indie bands to national acts, and also worked on music and voiceovers for advertising. The same year, he opened The Grand Piano Bistro, a dueling piano bar in Des Moines' East Village, which quickly became a local favorite for its lively atmosphere and dynamic performances.
In addition to live performances, Tony is a skilled composer. He creates music for web, TV, and film projects, as well as instrumental pieces for advertising and marketing.
